A team of officials from Food and Health department and the municipal corporation led by sub-divisional magistrate Bl Gajpal raided a gas agency, a petrol pump and some hotels in the town and sealed a petrol pump and seized 100-litre subsidised blue kerosene from a hotel.
According to sources, on a tip off, the team raided Bhatia Petrol Pump located near Imam Chowk and sealed it, as it has not renewed licence under the Explosives Act for the past one-and-half-year. The team has also raided Jalaram Misthan Bhandaar and seized 100-litre blue kerosene stored illegally at the hotel. The hotel was using blue kerosene for cooking.
The sources said that the team has raided godowns of various gas dealers including JK & Sons located at Cinema Road. During the raid, it was found that the dealer was providing single cylinder connection to the below poverty line beneficiaries at a high price than the actual one. The team seized 10 cylinders of 5 kg weight and three domestic cylinders of 14 kg stored illegally at the godown. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Kerosene (Restriction on use and Fixation of Selling Price) Act, PDS Controlling Order 1992 and the Essential Commodities Act 1955.
