Nobody remains hungry in the country is the thought of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi for which she is very sensitive and to make it a reality the Central Government is bringing a food security bill but to take its credit the Bharatiya Janata Party government in Chhattisgarh brought State Food Security Bill in haste, charged Congress national spokesperson and Congress member of Parliament Sandeep Dikshit.
He questioned the timing of the passing of bill saying what the government was doing for the last nine years if it was so much concerned about the people of the State. Bringing such a bill just ahead of Assembly poll is more a bid intended to befool people than good governance, he added.
Addressing a mammoth public meeting at Surajpur on the fourth day of ‘Parivartan Yatra’ Monday Dikshit claimed that the UPA government is purchasing paddy from farmers at the rate of Rs13-14 per kg and providing rice to state government at the rate of Rs3-4 per kg which it give to poor people at the rate of Re 1 and Rs2 per kg to claim the credit.
He said that even during Atal Behari Vajpayee’s prime ministership when the paddy was purchased at the rate of Rs6 per kg, rice was given to states at the rate of Rs3-4 per kg.
Citing the State Government’s opposition to invocation of the provisions of land Acquisition Act in Chhattisgarh, the Congress national spokesman charged that real intension of the state government has now come in to open as land of poor farmers is gifted to industrialists at dismal prices.
Governing system in the state also has collapsed as people have lost their faith in State government after incidents of rapes in ashram schools, loss of life and eye sights due to botched up operations in eye camps as also thousands of tribal girls went missing from the State, he charged.
Speaking on this occasion, State Congress president Nand Kumar Patel accused the state Government of failure to provide security to the common man as incidents of loot, robbery, murder, rape and other heinous crimes have become a routine affair.
Benefits of the natural resources of the state also do not go to people of Chhattisgarh while the state government indulged in befooling people by issuing different coloured ration cards to people. MlA T S Singhdeo, Dr Premsai Singh, Ramesh Barlyani, media in-charge Shailesh Nitin Trivedi and others were also present in the meeting.
