The district crime branch arrested five persons and seized stolen valuables worth Rs 5 lakh from their possession. The arrested person included buyer of stolen goods.
District Crime Branch In-charge Vishal Son informed that between July 9 and 15 some unidentified persons had entered into the house of Sujata Majhi, located in Sindhiya Nagar under Mohan Nagar police station and had decamped with gold and silver ornaments and watches all worth around Rs 5 lakh.
The district crime branch based on evidences collected during the course of investigation arrested the accused persons. They were identified as Shyam Singh (22), Markan Singh (18), Santosh Telgu alias Billa (24), Anvar Beg (32) and Vishnu Soni (43), all residents of Durg.
They have been booked under Sections 457 (House trespass), 380 (Theft in dwelling house) and 411 (Dishonestly receiving stolen property) of Indian Penal Code (IPC), Son said.
