For the first time in Chhattisgarh, a single party has won all the 14 urban civic bodies. Also, for the first time, the Congress has registered such a victory in urban areas, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Saturday.
Interacting with the media, he said the people of the state have rejected the efforts of Bharatiya Janata Party leaders to polarize voters in the name of religious conversions and communal hatred.
Thus, the Congress has made inroads into urban areas. Now, the BJP has nothing left to counter.
On Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s breach of security in Punjab, he said it is a political propaganda of the BJP and RSS to gain political mileage.
As there was no public present at the scheduled event in Ferozepur, to counter it such a mode was adopted.
He said now even the Prime Minister had lost faith in the central security agencies for his protection. The BJP in Punjab has only a limited presence in politics and the farmers’ agitation had added more fuel to anti-BJP sentiments.
Regarding Chhattisgarh, he said there was no need to stop the economic activities due to a surge in Covid-19 cases.
