The Village Industries Department of Chhattisgarh government have provided financial aid of Rs22 lakh to 44 weaver families of four weavers’ cooperative societies during the previous financial year 2013-14.
Department officials informed on Thursday that under the scheme, each beneficiary weaver has been provided with financial assistance of Rs50,000 for construction of loom-shed.
In the previous year, 25 weavers of Dandkarini Weavers’ Cooperative society of Borgaon Bastar district were given Rs12.50 lakh and three weavers of Kaladharini Weavers’ Cooperative Committee Jagdalpur were provided Rs1.50 lakh under the scheme.
likewise, 10 weavers of Nehru Weavers’ Cooperative Committee Dhaurakot Gariaband district were provided financial aid of Rs5 lakh whereas six weavers of Ganesh Weavers’ Cooperative Committee were given aid of Rs3 lakh.
