Finance dept's nod must for direct recruitment

Published on:

Chhattisgarh Government has made it mandatory for all departments to seek approval of the Finance department for any direct recruitment in the State.

However, it will not be applicable for compassionate basis appointments.

Additional Chief Secretary, Finance department, DS Mishra in a circular to all departmental heads and district collectors has stated that the provision was already there for filling up those posts lying vacant before 2007.

However, it was not implemented due to some unavoidable reasons. The Government has once again taken a decision that any recruitment in the Government jobs would now be done only after approval of the Finance department.

Even this will be applicable for those recruitment for which the Finance department has already accorded its consent earlier, he said.

Mishra made it clear that it will also be applicable to corporation, Zonal authority and the organisations which receive assistance from the Government.

It may be worth mentioning here that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in its manifesto had promised to fill up all the vacant posts. The Government had also directed all the departments and other concerned to fill them up by launching a special drive.

Even it had relaxed the Finance department approval norms. Despite the drive, all the vacant posts have not yet been filled up. With the Government making approval of the Finance department mandatory, the recruitment process is likely to be delayed further.
