The District Administration has notified the general public that the distribution of ration cards under the ‘Chhattisgarh Food Security law’ is completely free of cost.
‘Any complaints regarding charging of money by officials for the issuance of ration card would be probed and an FIR lodged against them,’ District Collector Ashok Agrawal said in a time-bound meeting held here. He directed the Revenue officers that FIRs be lodged against any Sarpanch, Secretary or official who demands money from people for issuance of Ration cards. Agrawal informed the officials that the benefiaciaries had been receiving rice at Rs 1 and 2 per kg in the district.
If in any case, these beneficiaries had been mistakenly issued ‘brown coloured ration card’ which offers rice at Rs 9.50 per kg for the Above Poverty line (APl) then they be allowed to purchase rice at Rs 1 and 2 per kg with the use of old Ration card. This apart, the Collector also directed the Executive Engineer of the Water Resources Department to float a tender for concretization of a nullah between Digvijay Stadium to District Hospital near Basantpur.
The project would cost Rs 8.50 crore for draining untreated water from the Rajnandgaon city. The total cost of the project for drainage of untreated water is Rs 30 crore in which water would be drained till Mohara from the Rajnandgaon city through concretization of the nullah lining. This apart, Agrawal also directed to station the ‘Mahatari Express’ at designated places in the far flung areas of the district. He said that the vehicles (Mahatari Express) need to be stationed in places which are convenient for the people to access for seeking its services.
