A female insurgent was gunned down by security forces following a face-off with Naxals in the jungles bordering Kondagaon and Narayanpur district, police said on Friday.
“The operation was jointly undertaken by Special Task Force (STF) and District Police in a forested patch about 45 kms from Narayanpur district headquarters,” Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Narayanpur OP Sharma informed. The encounter took place in the evening hours and the police parties are yet to reach back, the ASP said adding, body of a female ultra was recovered from the spot with a 315 factory made gun.
Police informed that the deceased was identified as Janki resident of Edangpal Village under Benur police station limits. She was member of Bayanar local Guerilla Squad.
“Rest of the details would be known only after the team returns to district headquarters,” Sharma said.
