A 23-year-old woman Maoist who was involved in at least 13 violent incidents and carried a reward of Rs 5 lakh on her head surrendered in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar district on Wednesday, police said.

The woman, identified as Dasmi Kuhrami, who was active in the Darbha division of Maoists, surrendered to senior police and CRPF officials saying she was disappointed with the violence committed by Naxalites and their “hollow” ideology, Inspector General of Police (Bastar range) Sundarraj P said in a press release.

She was inducted into Chetna Natya Mandli, a cultural wing of the outlawed outfit, by senior cadres in 2011 when she was aged 13-14 years. In 2017, she was elevated as a member of Katekalyan Area Committee of the Maoists, Sundarraj said.

She was allegedly a part of eight incidents of Naxalite violence in Bastar district including the murder of a Janpad Panchayat member in Koleng village in 2015 and an encounter in August that year in Darbha area in which a police official was killed, he said.

She was also involved in the attack on a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) team in Kirandul that killed six security personnel and a civilian in 2012 in neighbouring Dantewada district, the officer said, adding she carried a reward of Rs 5 lakh on her head.

The Maoist was given an "encouragement amount" of Rs 10,000 and will be further provided assistance as per the government's surrender-cum-rehabilitation policy, he said.

Dasmi Kuhrami also appealed to her elder brother Laxman, who is a local       organization squad              commander of the Maoists in Majkot area, to join the    mainstream, the official said.
