Assuring all necessary cooperation from the government, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has urged the Chief Justice of the High Court of Chhattisgarh to notify the number of fast track courts needed to deal specifically with sexual offences.

In a letter to Chief Justice P. R. Ramachandra Menon, Baghel said fast track court can be set up in adequate numbers in all districts for fast hearing of the cases, said an official communication.

Raising concern over rising number of sexual offences against women and children, the Chief Minister said even after adequate laws to deal with such offences, the crimes have gone up. Timely delivery of justice is a great concern.

It is felt that there is a need for quick and prompt delivery of justice to the victims. The victim of sexual offences should get speedy justice and the guilty extreme punishment, he said.

The letter stated that in sexual offence related cases a time limit for hearing can be fixed and the hearings can be held on a day-to-day basis. The Chief Minister urged the Chief Justice to issue the necessary guidelines for such a mechanism.
