Farmers urged to donate paddy straw to Gauthans

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey have urged farmers to donate post-harvest paddy straw to Gauthans to feed the cattle kept there.

In a joint appeal, both the leader stressed on donating the paddy straw instead of being burned in the fields.

If they do so, the environment will be saved on the one hand and on the other it will be an act of charity to serve Gau-Mata, they said.

The Gauthans have been built to preserve and conserve livestock and the Gauthan Committees are at present arranging fodder and water for them, they said.

The farmers who will donate maximum quantity of paddy straw and the Gauthan managing committees who will collect maximum quantity of it will be rewarded at block levels, the leaders said.

Baghel told the District Collectors to make arrangements to transport the paddy straw from fields to the Gauthans.
