Farmers in Chhattisgarh embrace pear cultivation

Published on:

Farmers in Chhattisgarh’s Jashpur district have taken up cultivating pear and have produced 1,230 tonnes, an official communiqué said on Sunday. The work is being done on 790 hectares under the National Horticulture Mission Scheme.

The farmers are also benefiting from the Fruit Area Expansion Scheme and Pear Area Expansion Scheme of the Horticulture Department to promote pear cultivation.

The department provides them maintenance costs and training about modern farming. The favourable climate and rich soil of Jashpur make it an ideal hub for farming, the communiqué said.
