Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday said that farmers who used to approach moneylenders have now shifted to banks to borrow money, a sign of prosperity among them.

Baghel was addressing a public interaction event (Bhent Mulaqat) in villages of Daadi and Nandghat in the Nawagarh assembly     constituency in Bemetara district.

He said farmers were also buying agricultural land, investing in agriculture and building the future of their children. This had been made possible due to the pro-farmer schemes of the state government.

He pledged to give village Daadi the status of full tehsil and a Swami Atmanand English Medium School and open a District Cooperative Bank in village Pratappur.

He said Nandghat will be made a Nagar Panchayat and said a Swami Atmanand English medium school and a District Cooperative Bank will be started at Badnara.

Baghel said that farmers, who were once leaving    farming, were now investing in farms.
