Chhattisgarh’s agriculture scientists have urged farmers to download the ‘Meghdoot’ App to know updated details of farm techniques, preventive measures against attacks by pests and insects, protection from various diseases and use of advanced technology.

The ‘Meghdoot’ application has been developed under the Integrated Agro-meteorological Advisory Service (AAS) programme with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). It is used for weather and agriculture related information.

It can be downloaded from https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aas.         meghdoot, the scientists said.

With the start of monsoon, sowing of paddy and other crops has begun under the Kharif season.

The scientists said that   farmers can procure the seeds resistant to insects, tolerant to diseases and other varieties from the Chhattisgarh State Seed and Agriculture Development Corp and the Indira Gandhi Agriculture University, Raipur. These plants are less prone to  diseases and insect attacks.

They said that in special circumstances like fungal or bacterial diseases, the farmers can go for paddy seeds which are tolerant to them in the paddy growing region. If farmers are using weedicide, it can be effective only if, after its use, rains do not occur for 3-4 hours.
