Farmers’ movement has been suspended, not ended: CM

The farmer’s movement against the three farm laws has not ended but suspended as of now, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Saturday, adding the demand for Minimum Support Price (MSP) for agricultural produce has not been met.

He was speaking at a summit organized by a private national news channel here. Tributes were paid to first Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and others who died in a helicopter crash.

On farmers’ issues, the Chief Minister took a dig at the Modi government and said it had lost people’s faith.

The youth of the country needs employment, not 'jumlas' (gimmicks), he said. The Congress has no faith in the government. The farmers’ agitation has been suspended and it has not ended, he added.

He said the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections posed a major challenge to the Congress but he was confident the party will win the battle.

“The results this time will be quite different and shocking from the previous elections. People will bring the Congress to power in UP.”

On Congress organization, Baghel said an election has been announced. The membership campaign is in full swing. "I strongly wish that Rahul Gandhi should become the national President of the Congress."

In his three years as Chief Minister, Baghel said: “The Chhattisgarh model has emerged as an ideal model for the whole       country.”
