Chhattisgarh Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Umesh Patel on Tuesday said the process of reimbursing players and coaches who took part in the National Games in Gujarat was on.
BJP's Ajay Chandrakar sought details of the selection process of players for participation in the games held from September 29 to October 12, 2022. He also wanted details regarding the training.
Patel replied that 136 players and 40 officials participated in the event and won 13 medals. The Chhattisgarh Olympic Association (COA) oversaw the selection. There was no interference of the state government in the process.
Chandrakar said some teams with coaches took part bearing their own expenses. He said even the coaches and players have not been paid.
Patel said the COA had forwarded further additional expenses of around Rs 11 lakh. The amount will be paid to the players and coaches.
Chandrakar alleged that the camps were held in private institutions and there was no criteria for selection of coaches. He sought a probe or action against officials involved in laxity.
The Minister said a complaint regarding the Wrestling Association was received and action had been taken. There is no issue regarding any other matter.
