Justice T.P. Sharma said on Thursday that in order to strengthen democracy, people must exercise their franchise.
“Those who understand the importance of our democratic duty should also make others aware,” he said.
He stressed the need for increasing voter awareness in all areas.
He was addressing a National Voters’ Day programme at the Indira Gandhi Agricultural University in Raipur.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Girish Chandel said: “Awareness about voting has increased among the youth, which assures that democracy will strengthen in the coming times.” On this occasion, a photo exhibition was held to raise awareness about the proper use of voting rights.
Officers and employees who made significant contributions to election work were honoured. Districts that took special initiatives to inspire voters were also hailed.
