The Election Commission has approved ex-gratia of Rs. 30 lakhs and Rs. 15 lakhs for officials and security personnel who were injured or died while on election duty in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, it was announced on Wednesday.
The compensation has been approved as per the Chhattisgarh Compensation Rules.
An amount of Rs. 30 lakh has been approved for a central security force trooper who died due to Naxalite violence in Kanker and Rs. 15 lakh for another security personnel who died on duty.
A compensation of Rs. 15 lakh each has been approved for three election workers who died due to an accident in Keshkal.
Compensation has also been sanctioned for personnel injured by Naxalites while on election duty.
