To chalk out its strategy on the case against eviction of tribals residing in the forest land without letters of forest rights, tribal Wing of the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) went into a huddle on Thursday, the day Supreme Court stayed implementation of its earlier eviction order.
The meeting, chaired by chairman of the tribal wing of the PCC Amarjeet Bhagat, was also attended by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
While discussing its future course of action after the apex court stayed its February 13 eviction order, the meeting observed that the relief came due to a strong case put up by Chhattisgarh government and other Congress-ruled states against the earlier eviction order.
Addressing the meeting Baghel said Congress always stood behind the tribals. He informed the meeting that the Supreme Court had suspended its own order of eviction of 11 lakh 80 thousand tribal families residing traditionally in the forest regions, till July 10.
The meeting also discussed strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and took a pledge of winning all the 11 constituencies in state.
