To reduce the pressure of patients on Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Medical College Hospital, the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation's (ESIC) new hospital here will be converted to treat coronavirus positive patients.
The Health Department said the ESIC Hospital at Bhanpuri in Raipur was built by the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment but it was not operational due to lack of human resources. The Health Department then decided to acquire it and run it as a special Covid-19 Hospital.
The Gayatri Hospital had quoted running the Covid-19 Hospital at a rate of Rs 1,448 per bed per day.
The hospital will treat asymptomatic patients and those with mild symptoms.
At present, the Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Medical College Hospital -- Chhattisgarh's biggest -- is handling Covid-19 patients, Intensive Care Unit, operation theatre, cancer and heart related diseases treatment and emergency services.
