Chief Secretary Ajay Singh on Thursday chaired a meeting to review works underway under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in the State at the Mantralaya here.
The Chief Secretary directed the officials to ensure timely payment of wages to the labourers.
Singh asked officials to prepare action plan for Central Government's flagship programmes such as construction of concrete stages at Haat Bazars in rural areas and rejuvenation of rivers.
He asked employees to also focus on water supply infrastructure projects under the scheme.
The officials informed in the meeting that during the current financial year, 38.49 lakh families were registered for offering employment under the scheme out of which 18 lakh families were offered employment during the last five months.
