Chief Minister Raman Singh has directed the collectors of all districts to ensure cent per cent registration of birth/death in each village, city and ward of Chhattisgarh.
The Chief Minister, while addressing through video conferencing to all divisional commissioners and collectors, here on Sunday, said to make this issue a part of their daily routine in Government work and to gather information about the progress of this work from the field-level officers on a regular basis. Singh directed them to do regular review of birth/death registration.
He asked the officials to include the birth/death registration issue in the agenda of Gram Sabhas to be started in all districts from August 20, along with other issues, and to inform villagers about its importance.
Birth certificate is necessary in view of admission of children in school, for preparation of passport, ration card and other Government facilities. Similarly, death certificate is necessary for insurance claim etc. With the birth-death registration, it is easy for the Central and State Governments to prepare schemes in the interest of people.
The Chief Minister said that the State Government, under the citizen registration system, has made Chief Executive Officer of Janpad Panchayats for rural areas, Chief Municipal Officer or authorised officers for urban areas and In-charge officers of all Government hospitals of above 30-bed capacity, registrars for birth-death registration.
