Enhance security at revenue courts: Govt

Published on:

The Revenue and Disaster Management in Chhattisgarh on Thursday directed all district Collectors to ensure security arrangements in all revenue courts.

This follows a demand from the Chhattisgarh Junior State Administrative Service Association (CJSASA) seeking security in revenue courts across the state.

The Association is on indefinite strike from February 14 following a brawl by lawyers at Raigarh in which the Naib Tehsildar and other staff were manhandled. The police had arrested the lawyers based on video footage of the assault.

CJSASA President Krishna Kumar Lahare said that the order issued on Thursday to the Collectors by the government had no clarity on the type of security provided to revenue officials and their offices.

The Association said that if a unanimous decision is reached, then the strike will be withdrawn.
