Encroachments between Kalibari Chowk and Women’s Police Station were removed by the demolition wing of Raipur Municipal Corporation on Wednesday.
People had encroached upon the area near the Office of Traffic Police, Women’s Police Station and Kali Bari Chowk for a couple of months now. After complaints from commuters, the demolition wing swung into action and razed the encroachments.
A police team had accompanied the RMC wing to keep a check on any untoward situation. Amid resistance from affected families, bulldozers and labourers razed of the encroachments that included potters.
In-charge of the demolition wing Abhash Mishra said commuters faced problems because of the encroachments. Parking vehicles was also an issue and thus we had to raze the encroachments.
