Additional Director of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Development Department, Sharda Verma visited Vijay Nagar Pantora, Maroda and Sadak Parsuli village to learn about distribution of ‘Forest Rights Certificate’ and reviewing proper implementation of the Forest Rights Act.

In a conversation held with villagers and the certificate holders in Vijay Nagar Pantora, Verma asked the Sarpanch to follow the rules of having minimum 10 and maximum 15 members in ‘Forest Rights Committee’ and appoint 2/3 of the committee’s members from Scheduled Tribe.

On some villagers’ complaint of not receiving ‘Forest Rights Certificate’ yet, Verma asked the Sarpanch to soon hold a ‘Gram Panchayat’ to receive their applications. She also instructed the Assistant Commissioner to ensure that the eligible villagers should avail benefits of Government-run schemes meant for them.

During her visit, Verma visited the Department-run Post Metric Girls’ Hostel in Gariaband and Tribal Girls’ Hostel in Vijay Nagar Pantora to observe facilities being offered to the students. The officer was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner, SK Vahene and the Project Administrator, NS Parihar.
