Three elephants who fell into a pit in a farmland in Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari district are now safe and healthy inside a forest, the government announced on Friday.
The three animals slipped on Thursday night in Chargaon in the Dugli forest range, an official statement said. No rescue operation was carried out at night and the herd of elephants kept roaming in the farmland.
Two of the three elephants came out at around 5 in the morning while one elephant was rescued by the Forest Department with a JCB, the statement said.
