Electrotherm (India) ltd., one of the market leaders and solution providers for foundry and steel melting and refining equipment conducted a one-day Technical Workshop titled “Gearing Up for the Future” for the local industry to share avenues of sustainability in these turbulent times in the city.

Addressing a select audience of more than 60 top steel producers in this region, Bharat Tank, Head – Business Development covered various areas of steel making by saying “Electrotherm indeed has played a very important role and contributed significantly in the growth of the Indian Steel industry'', according to a company press release issued here. According to our estimates, more than 18 Million tonnes of steel is being made (in our country) only through furnaces supplied by us, he said.

The company introduced the revolutionary Modular Billet caster at the time when it was needed the most and making direct charging of billets a dream-come-true for the small players that not only improved their bottom lines, but also contributed by way of saving on fuel required for reheating of billets and conserving nature”, Tank said.

He further said “Electrotherm has been constantly engaged in serving and servicing this important segment of the Indian industry that is responsible for more than 35 Million tonnes of the country’s steel production as on date.

And over the past one decade Electrotherm has virtually revolutionized the secondary steel industry by launching and commissioning some of the life-line type products like Modular Casters, Programmable Dynamic load Managers (PDlM), Power Optimizers, Electro-Hydraulic Grabs, Pollution Control Systems and Scrap Processing Equipment etc. This is quite contrary to the rumour mills that has been doing rounds about the financial health of the company, Tank said.

Sharat Chojar, Country Head – Marketing said “According to our analysis, we are confident that there would be a surge in the demand of steel and there appears no reason for worry for the secondary steel producers over the next 5-10 years. It has been after a span of three decades that India has witnessed a Government with clear majority and a wonderful foresight and yearn for overall development that would bring about a decade of rise in demand and the industries that appear to be most beneficiated are of steel, cement, engineering, automobiles and power sector that fall under the cyclical industries category.
