The Chhattisgarh           government will          establish a Regional Laboratory and Training Centre in Nava Raipur to test electrical equipment.

In presence of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday, a MoU was signed between the            government and the Central Power Research Institute (CPRI), Bengaluru.

Ankit Anand, Secretary in the Department of Energy, Chhattisgarh, and the B.A. Sawale, Additional Director of CPRI, signed the            documents.

CPRI will establish the institute, which will be one of the biggest in Central India.

The government has allocated 10 acres of land in Layer–2 Tendua village, Sector 30, through the Atal Nagar Naya Raipur Development Authority. The laboratory will be ready in 36 months at a cost of Rs. 20.70 crores.

It will result in saving time and revenue as earlier the equipment was being sent to Bhopal for testing, an official communication said.

The laboratory will offer a concession of 20 percent to electrical companies for   testing.

The institute will provide consultation services for ensuring the quality of utility, encouraging applied research in the power sector and improving the reliability in the field of engineering.
