Elderly people are becoming easy prey to Covid, so they should be tested for Covid on priority, the government said on Thursday.
“As experts had warned with the onset of winter, Covid cases have increased, thereby pushing death cases in Chhattisgarh. It is fuelled by delay in testing,” an official press release said.
The Critical Care Specialist from Dr BR Ambedkar Memorial Hospital Raipur, Dr O.P. Sundarani, said that within 24 hours of detection of Covid symptoms the patients should undergo tests.
In some cases, it has been noted that elderly persons who were suffering from some diseases were found Covid positive though they had not left their house, Dr Sundarani said.
The infection could have been passed by young members of the family. Young people have high resistance. Therefore, the infection shows no symptom in them and they become healthy, Dr Sundarani said.
Also, people who had some breathing related troubles, diabetes or other similar issues need to take extra care. Early detection and treatment increased the chances of recovery, he added.
