The Election Commission has banned exit polls and publication and telecast of its results till December 5 6.30 pm. Polling in the Bhanupratappur assembly by-election in Chhattisgarh is due on December 5.
Issuing a notification, the EC said the action has been taken under the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
Any violation will invite punishment with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with fine or with both.
