EC prohibits exit polls from November 7 to 30

In view of Assembly elections to be held in five states including Chhattisgarh, the Election Commission has prohibited organising and telecasting any kind of Exit Poll from November 7 to 30.

Under the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the conduct and telecast of these polls have been banned from 7 a.m. of November 7 to 6.30 p.m. of November 30.

Chhattisgarh will see elections on November 7 and 17. The votes will be counted on December 3.

Exit polls try to find out from voters which party they voted and predict the most likely results of an election.
