The Congress nominee for Bastar lok Sabha seat is facing trouble over the assets-related affidavit he has submitted at the time of filing his nomination papers recently. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has pointed out that Karma has not furnished the details of the land he has in Kangoli village, bank account no, Karma's share on the properties of his father late Mahendra Karma and other vital details.
The BJP during the scrutiny of nomination also pointed out that Karma has not provided bank account details of his wife, and also the details of his educational qualification.
Accepting the points raised by the BJP, the election officer has asked Karma to present his clarification. The Congress party is believed to be preparing the reply. The scrutiny of the nominations filed by eight candidates was done on Monday. All of them were found to be valid.
The Congress said that the points raised by the BJP is not genuine and will not have any adverse bearing in the election. Deepak Karma is the son of senior Congress leader Mahendra Karma who was killed in the Jeeram Ghati carnage by Maoists on May 25 last year.
