Drone helps transport medical test samples

The Central government's Drone Healthcare project has successfully completed its first trial by transporting samples from Udaipur to the Ambikapur Medical College in Chhattisgarh, an official communiqué said on Tuesday.

The drone transported blood samples and OT culture samples 40 km away in 30 minutes.

Two women from self-help groups, termed 'Drone Didis', were trained in drone operations in Delhi.

One Didi is stationed at Udaipur while the other is at Ambikapur for sample loading and unloading.

This initiative addresses the challenges faced by remote community health centers in the Surguja and Bastar divisions.

The success of this pilot project could provide easy access to quality healthcare to people in remote areas.
