The head of the Indian Medical Association's Chhattisgarh unit Dr Mahesh Sinha was on Monday unanimously elected a national Working Committee member of the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM).

Dr Rakesh Gupta, Chairman of IMA's Hospital Board, congratulated Dr Sinha and said it was a matter of pride for Chhattisgarh that he had been honoured.

Dr Gupta said the ISCCM has its headquarters in Mumbai. It is the largest non-profit association of Indian physicians, nurses, physiotherapists and other allied healthcare professionals involved in the care of the critically ill.

ISCCM seeks to impart educational training by developing and running post-graduate fellowship courses and diplomas in critical care medicine and formulating standards and guidelines for the practice of intensive care to suit Indian conditions.
