Cancer patients at Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital of the city will not have to wait long for their medical examination reports now.
The Hospital administration is installing a Frozen Section Technology machine which points out the complications of the cancer developed by the patient within 10 minutes.
A machine named ‘Cryostat’ worth around 15 lakh is being installed at the Multi-Disciplinary Hall of the hospital, said sources.
It will help in knowing the status of the treatment of a patient suffering from cancer.
“The machine will help us in taking up other cancer related tests easily.
We hope to begin it after the month of April,” said the hospital’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Dr Shubhra Singh.
Notably, in frozen technology a sample of the afflicted body part is collected for testing.
It is then frozen in the cryostat at minus 25 degrees celsius. Further test is carried out to find the malignancy of the cancer.
Also, it detects the portion of the body affected by the disease.
An official of the Cancer Department of the Hospital said the report of the frozen technology is accurate and reliable.
