The students of Delhi Public School (DPS), Raipur have made it a subject of their annual calendar to apprise the citizens at city's Marine Drive near Telibandha lake regarding conscientious use of horn while driving to prevent noise pollution.

Raghunath Mukherjee gave the green signal to the students’ proposal of approaching the ever increasing crowd that come at Marine Drive for a stroll to reinforce the idea of keeping the incessant blaring of horns to barest minimum, a school press release informed on Monday.

In trying to make the people aware of noise pollution due to honking randomly, students of class VII were seen holding placards against honking and heard saying congenially to those parking cars and two wheelers riders, “Human ears are programmed to accept only 40 – 50 decibels consistently but if this range crosses to 60-70 decibels, it can be deafening. Hence spite the horn and spare the pollution, he said.

“From morning 6:30 a.m. to almost noon, the students along with their teachers drew attention of the public during the campaign. This move by children will certainly compel the people to reconsider, reduce and reshape their mechanisms towards noise pollution,” said the Principal.

Appreciating the numerous awareness campaigns by Eco-club Department of the school, Pro Vice Chairman, Baldeo Singh Bhatia and senior of the management committee, Vijay Shah and Pukhraj Jain encouraged the students to continue with their efforts in raising consciousness of the public towards a clean and green environment.
