The Sc3 is a week-long leadership training program held annually at NCTC, USA which is reputed as the nation’s top environmental and conservation training facility center. Participants, also known as Sc3 fellows, learn from world known experts, naturalists, scientists and conservationists here. They also study and discuss environmental, social, and economic interconnections to address biodiversity and natural resource conservation challenges affecting their generation in the ever changing world, a school press release informed.

Under the leadership of Maria Public School, Guwahati, the 3rd delegation to the climate congress, of which Ishani was the member, comprised of faculties & students of class X from Maria Public School and a student of Greenwood High International School, Bangalore.

These students were selected through International Conservation Training Camps organized by MPS at their own Conservation and Training Facility at Rajasthan, the ‘Maria’s Braveheart.’

In the USA, the team got an opportunity to interact and learn from a prominent panel of speakers like Ian Cheney- Documentary film-Maker, Pete Dominick-Media Personality, Susan Cohen – lisa Hupp, Cameron Conaway- US Conservationists and Naturalists and Rob Watson- Entrepreneur and pioneer of Green Buildings.

For Ishani, mingling with overseas students and their mentors during bird watching, plenary sessions where environmental justice and racism with running grass was discussed and final views presented, was just awesome. Hers and her team’s presentation under the guidance of Biswajit De, National Faculty Coordinator for the Green School Alliance, India, was highly appreciated by the delegates at the congress which comprised of 125 schools from US, Egypt, Cambodia and UK. Nostalgia grips Ishani when she reminisces her trip to Harper’s Ferry where Shenandaoh and Polomacriver conjugate, all the fun and frolic she had during campfire, OST Big & mini circles, DJ party and the closing ceremony.

The Indian delegation was prepared and guided by Nellie Ahmed, Managing trustee, Maria Public School and  Biswajit De, Creative director MPS.
