A number of field trips were organised recently to acquaint the students of Delhi Public School (DPS) Raipur with different farming techniques in Chhattisgarh.
During the first trip, Class V Students were taken to explore Polyhouse in Indira Gandhi Agricultural University (IGAU), a school press release informed on Monday.
The students learned about the smart-farming system and gained knowledge of protected cultivation. They also saw the latest techniques of growing a variety of different crops, including Gerbera, Rose, Tomato, Cucumber and Watermelon etc.
The second trip, took the students to the Dairy Technology College, a Tissue culture lab and a Mushroom culture lab. The children were educated on the scientific and logical skills used in the laboratories.
In contrast with this the third trip which was held on September 18 took class IV children to paddy fields to discover the real-life experience of farming.
This experience was followed up with a competition in which the students exhibited handmade models depicting various farming techniques they had witnessed, as well as certain techniques used in different countries as well.
The Principal Raghunath Mukherjee remarked: “The only thing which impressed me more than the commitment of the students, was the end result of this project, these models are first class and to see our blossoming talents express themselves so outstandingly is most pleasing and rewarding.”
