Bharatiya Janata Party’s star campaigner and star turned politician Vinod Khanna held an election meeting at local Gandhi Maidan in support of BJP candidate from Rajim Assembly constituency Santosh Upadhyaya. However, presence of people in the meeting was very thin.
Addressing the meeting Khanna said that he was seeking vote for the BJP candidate as a true soldier of the party so that Dr Raman Singh could form Government in the State third time in a row. He asked the public to judge the development work done by the BJP Government during the last 10 years and not to get swayed by the false promise of the Congress of giving 35 kg rice for free. lauding the achievements of Raman Government, he asked the people to strengthen the BJP by voting in its favour promising that if Dr Raman forms Government again in the State, it would see all round development in the days to come.
Taking a potshot at the Congress, Khanna said everybody knows the pitiable condition the country has landed in due to wrong policies of the Congress, mega scams of which have brought India disrepute the world over, he added. Khanna alleged that Congress regime perpetrated different scams involving at least Rs 2 lakh crore which included ‘Coalgate’, 2G Spectrum and others. Khanna charged that in probes of these scams Central Bureau of Investigation was favouring the Congress and added that if Narendra Modi becomes Prime Minister of the country all these scams will be probed to their logical end and guilty should be sent behind the bars.
He said that on the pattern of development works done by Modi in Gujarat, Dr Raman and Shivraj also done tremendous development work in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh respectively, changing the scenario altogether. He asked the people to vote in favour of the next BJP Government as it was a time to wage a bar against the Congress symbolising corruption.
