Don't play politics over death, Cong tells BJP

The death of Hardev Sinha who set himself on fire outside Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel's house last month is painful, the Congress said on Wednesday, but it asked BJP leader and former Chief Minister Raman Singh not to play politics over the young man's demise.

Hardev Sinha, who died in a hospital on Tuesday night, had applied for a job during the previous BJP government in the state but no action was taken, the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee said in a statement.

CPCC Communication Department Chairman Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said Raman Singh, having ruled the state for 15 years, should not indulge in such politics.

Blaming the previous regime for failing to generate employment, the statement said why the Congress government of now is being blamed for the shortcomings of the past.

Similar incidents had occurred during BJP rule also wherein a differently abled committed suicide besides farmers. So, at this crucial period of battling Covid-19, indulging in such politics cannot be justified, the statement said.
