Raipur division commissioner G. R. Churendra has urged the people not to misuse the water released to fill the ponds for daily use during the summer months.
With falling water level in the ponds with the advent of summer months, water is being released for daily use through irrigation canals to fill the water bodies in villages.
Commissioner directed all district collectors, Zila Panchayat chief executive officers and water resources department divisional and district officials to repair the broken and damaged canal with public participation and contributory labour on war-footing.
It has been found that several smaller canals have been damaged due to which the water released may be lost or affect the normal flow, wasting the water.
He directed the officials to repair all the water reservoirs and ponds by holding survey and take action to repair them. The water management committees should be activated so that when water reaches the villages or pass through villages, water should not go waste and better management can be done. Commissioner directed the officials to constitute joint teams to monitor the situation.
