Do not make unnecessary e-registration bookings: Govt

The Chhattisgarh Stamp and Registration department on Sunday requested people not to make unnecessary e-registration bookings.

The department has also made it mandatory to deposit 5 percent of stamp fee while making e-registration bookings, a press release said.

“During audit inspection it was found that the appointments in e-registration category has increased but the number of land registrations has not increased in comparison,” Chhattisgarh Auditor General (Stamps and Registration) Dharmesh Sahu said in the press release.

It shows that people are unnecessarily making bookings in e-registration category, engaging time of appointments in advance. This has impacted the rate of actual registration, he said.

Pre-electronic bookings are affecting property bookings. People who really need to get registration done are not getting appointment slots for land and property registration, he said.

He urged parties not go for advance e-registrations if they are not ready for the registration.

Sahu instructed the officers to only engage with land and property transactions which have valid stamp numbers. He said the e-stamp fee should be deposited in advance while applying for a booking of slots.

The stamp fee should be at least 5 percent. Lesser fees should not be entertained, he said.

He said that after taking an appointment, the parties have to complete the whole registration within 15 days. Those failing do registration within 15 days will not get an appointment for the next      15 days.
