The National Board of Examinations (NBE) here on Monday gave its approval for 12 seats in the Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in four district hospitals in Chhattisgarh.

A communication from the state government on Monday said that after the Durg Hospital, the Post MBBS Diploma Courses have been approved in the district hospitals of Raipur, Kanker and Surajpur.

The approval was given to the Raipur District Hospital for three seats of pediatrics, two seats in obstetrician and one seat for Family Medicine.

Availability of specialist Doctors and quality medical aid had been the reason that the Board had approved these seats to the district hospitals for the period from January 22 to December 2026, the communication said.

The Diplomate of National Board (DNB) is a Post-graduate Master's degree -- the same as MD/MS degree awarded to Specialist Doctors in India after completion of three-year residency.

DNB courses are run and the degrees are awarded by the National Board of Examinations (NBE), New Delhi, an autonomous academic body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

People who complete an MD/MS programme in their respective subjects are also eligible to appear in the final DNB certification examination along with regular DNB trainees.
