DKS scam: PNB AGM Sunil Agrawal sent to police remand

Lower court of Raipur on Monday sent former Additional General Manager of Punjab National Bank, Raipur, Sunil Agrawal to three-day police remand.

Agarwal was arrested allegedly for sanctioning loan to Dau Kalyan Singh (DKS) Super Specialty Hospital, giving undue advantage to Dr Punit Gupta, the son-in-law of former CM Raman Singh. Gupta is a prime accused in a fund misappropriation case.

ASP Prafull Thakur said the Court of Justice Sumit Kapoor granted Agrawal’s three-day police remand so that investigators can interrogate him to unearth the DKS hospital’s fund-misappropriation scam worth Rs 65 crore.

Though the remand has been granted on a condition that police will not physically torture the bank official and due medical checkups would be done before and after the police remand, the police official said. Official further informed that Agrawal was arrested from the national capital a couple of days ago and was brought to Raipur on transit remand and was produced before the local court in Raipur on Monday.
