Fulfilling Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel's promise, the Chhattisgarh government on Friday announced a 5 percent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) of government employees.
The Chief Minister had promised to hike the DA on Diwali.
An official communiqué said the 28 percent DA has now been raised to 33 percent. This would come into effect from October.
The hike would also be effective for employees and officials getting the UGC and AICTE pay scales.
Earlier, under the banner of the Chhattisgarh Karmchari Adhikari Federation (CGKAF), employees and officials staged protests seeking DA at par with Central government employees.
They demanded pending 6 percent DA which was still short in comparison to Central government employees.
The strike ended after the Chief Minister promised a hike on Diwali.
