'Divisive forces won't be able to run country'

By dividing the society on religious lines in to Hindu and Muslim categories, no one will be able to run the country as it is equally clear that no one, whosoever he may be, would be able to drive out the minority community from India, said senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member from Chhattisgarh, Mohsina Kidwai.

Addressing the huge gathering of minority community members in front of Congress Bhawan Sunday afternoon, Kidwai said that despite changes in political scenario in the country, the minority community still has faith in Congress as it is the one and only political outfit which is above the regional, casteist or sectarian attitude.

launching a diatribe against the right wing forces who allegedly trying to teach their self devised concept of nationality to masses, Kidwai said, it was late Prime Minister Mrs Indira Gandhi who truly taught the nation the lesson of righteousness as she hardly had any place for religious considerations. Speaking on the occasion, national president of Congress Minority cell Imran Kidwai said that minority community has special attachment with the Congress given its secular credentials which no other party in the last hundred years has exhibited.

He exhorted every citizen specially minority community to apply their conscience before casting his vote to any political party considering its credentials. He also criticised BJP led State Government for overlooking the interest of minority community as it failed even to safeguard the Waqf property in the Chhattisgarh.

Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee president Charandas Mahant said that Congress party has no malice towards any community as we hardly ever differentiated in Mandir and Mosque or played any communal card for the purpose of grabbing power. In the present scenario there is great need of forging communal harmony instead of dividing it, Mahant added.

In the meeting leaders, public representatives and thousands of people belonging to minority community from across the State participated. Congress legislature party leader Ravindra Choubey, Pandaria MlA Mohammad Akbar and other Congress leaders of Chhattisgarh also spoke on this occasion.
