Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday announced Rs 1 lakh award each to Loknath Dhiwar and four fellow divers who saved five people from drowning in the Kharun river here. Dhiwar, Chairman of the Navik Avum Gothakhor Machuwara Sangh Samiti, Mahadev Ghat, Raipur, and members Makhan Dhiwar, Diamond Dhiwar, Sheshnarayan Dhiwar and Devkumar Dhiwar called on Baghel here, an official communication said. The Chief Minister praised them for showing indomitable courage and bravery. But for their prompt action, the five lives could not have been saved.
Four members of a family and a fifth person were set to drown in the river on August 16 when they got saved.
