Due to non-posting of radiologist, better utilisation of modern CT Scan machine could not be done for the benefit of patients in the district hospital. Despite efforts from the hospital management, the State Government did not make new posting of radiologist, whereas, the radiologist Dr Dhurve posted here, earlier, has been transferred to Balod one and half years ago.
However, earlier, the State Government had issued order to Dr Dhurve to give his service to the Rajnandgaon district hospital two days in a week. But the order could not be implemented and the Government intention to give better treatment facility has been spoiled. In this regard, civil surgeon Dr Mohbe said that many a time correspondence had been made with the Government and informed about the chaos prevailing here. But a decision on this is yet to be taken. Two months ago, the State Government had posted Dr Jangde, the radiologist of Durg district. But, it is said that Dr Jangde is not interested in working here and he got cancelled his order.
Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, in order to make full-fledged modern treatment system in the district hospital, had installed a modern CT Scan machine worth about Rs 1.5 crore two years ago. After a few months of starting this facility in the district hospital, it has been stopped due to alleged administrative anarchy. CT scan is said to be the powerful facility in the medical world. With this system, brain-related diseases of the patients could easily be detected. Private hospitals in the city are charging willfully from the patients for the facility.
As such, poor people hoped of getting this benefit from the state government. However, the health department is not giving importance to the positive thinking of the State Government and because of that utilisation of this machine is not being done in the district hospital. Because of dearth of radiologist, large number of people has been deprived of this important technical facility and they are compelled to pay huge amount to private hospitals for availing this facility for their better treatment.
