In a big amendment in the provisions of reservations in the district cadre, state government has decided that the reservation will now be based on population of the respective district.
A decision regarding the same was taken at a cabinet meeting held at official residence of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday afternoon.
Briefing news persons about the cabinet decisions, ministers Ravindra Choubey, Mohammad Akbar and Amarjeet Bhagat informed that with hike in reservations for OBC’s to 27% and introduction of reservations for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) the total percentage was going beyond 100% in some of the districts in the state.
Keeping in view the problem arising over the same, the state government decided to make stagnant the reservations for Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste and to provide reservations for OBCs and EWS as per their population in respective districts, including Bijapur, Narayanpur, Dantewada, Choubey informed.
