A delegation of people under the banner of Poorvottar Bharatiya Sanskritik Sansthan staged a demonstration at the Indore railway station here on Sunday afternoon demanding a direct train service between Indore and Darbhanga via Varanasi Balia, Chapra, Muzaffarpur and Samastipur for the convenience of lakhs of people north Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh, who are living in the city and adjoining regions since years.

The delegation members led by Poorvotar Bharatiya Sanskritik Sansthan State president Thakur Jagdish Singh also met Union Power Minister (Independent Charge) Jyotiraditya Scindia at the Indore railway station and apprised him of the immense hardship being faced by the people of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in absence of a direct train between Indore and their regions.

The delegation members also submitted a memorandum to him addressing to Union Railway Minister Mallikarjun Khadge seeking a direct train service between Indore and Darbhanga, the cultural capital of North Bihar via Varanasi, Gajipur, Balia, Chapra, Muzaffarpur, keeping in view that lakhs of people from this region are living in Indore and adjoining regions of Malwa.

In the memorandum it said that currently Indore had only one train - Indore-Patna Express which connected Indore with very small parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Moreover, people living in other parts of eastern UP and North Bihar were not at all benefited by this train, which run only twice a week. Moreover the kind of passengers’ traffic this train attracts was beyond its control.

Keeping this fact, Poorvottar Bharitya Sanskritik Sansthan had also urged the Union Rail Minister to run Indore-Patna Express on all days of the week, besides running a direct train between Indore and Darbhanga. Besides, the Sansthan has also demanded a direct train between Indore-Guwahati via Patna and Bhagalpur so as to enable the people of Malwa to have a direct train connection with north-eastern parts of the country.

Scindia assured delegation members that he will seriously look into their demands and will talk to the Union railway minister in this regard.
